subjectivity
Meaning: The quality of being based on personal feelings, opinions, or interpretations rather than on external facts; the opposite of objectivity.
Subjectivity is a central concept in philosophy, journalism, and the social sciences. In media studies, it refers to the inevitable influence of a journalist's or writer's personal perspective on their reporting. In philosophy, subjectivity concerns the nature of individual experience and consciousness. The term is often used critically — 'that's purely subjective' — to dismiss an argument as opinion rather than fact.
